I was of the opinion trim takes care of leading and trailing space?? any how I tried that before doing my first post it self and it dint work? If you want to identify the char, try preparing various ascii chars and matching them with the char you obtain could you be elobarative I did not Understand ...

where could I find Ascential best practices documents for Parallel jobs, is it a part of DS bookshelf? if it is so then I have to see a doctor about my eyes :roll:

Just check your input columns and output columns in hash file are same.. and makesure you do trim and upcase, no matter they should work... like you have ino put col as Fname lname mname seqid and output as Fname mname lname seqid and you are tryinb to make join on lname or mname it would faile and ...

Why this
'without hash file' what way it is going to hurt you..
instead it will enhance your performance..

imagin situation, where you are trying to lookup 1million records and you are hitting databse 1 million times, where as you could have done it in single queery...

you can..

but general practice is while exporting from dev to version and importing to prod you will convert the code to read only....

but if you want import back to dev make sure you will convert the code back to read and write.....

I do not admin previlages.. my ds server is on box abc... and filderectories are abc/etldata/myproject/MYPROJECT_DEV.. through telnet I am logging in going to this location where all RT_ are stored, hash files and seqfiles are stored on subdirectories to this... do I need to go in to sub directories...

There is no reason I could think of, otherwise means value otherwise than the 1 which you specified, did you put '=1' in your expression value or just 1, if you had put just 1, try putting = 1

r u able to connect to db2 from your new server with odbc??? if I am not wrong 1 . you are able to connect to db2 from odbc and dsdb2 from old servers 2. you are able to connect to db2 from odbc but not from dsdb2 from your new server... ans secondly did you try comparing the uv config files fo both...

Pandu; one more thing; you said, its not working when both sequencers giving errors, whats the trigger critearia, from second to third seq1 ....seq2..seq3 or seq1......seq3 . . seq2..... seq3 whats your design, if its on errors in seq1 execute seq2 else seq3 and in seq3 you should execute 3 three on...

when so comfortable with DS why do want to use QS, as ram said its whole different env and it whilly depends on you skills about the time frame, and this post should have been in whole different forum......
