Thanks Ray. What would be the reasons for this specifically? Is it for ease of maintenance of these files, or as a general rule we shouldn't be writing directly to the resource/scratch areas as these are internal to DataStage? The reason I'm asking is that the proposed directory and file system orga...

Data set descriptor location

Hi there, I have a question regarding the set-up of data sets on a project. A data set has a descriptor and one or more data files (the actual number depending on how many nodes/partitioning is specified). Now these data set data files will be stored by the Parallel Engine on the resource disk e.g. ...

UV Stage 'User is not an SQL user'

Not sure if I should post this in the Server forum or Testimonial section, but thought I'd stick it here in case anyone else had a similar problem. Re: Loading millions of Records to a hashi file

It depends how large each record is that you load into the hash file. If your hash file just contains a key for looking up, and that key is an integer (for example), then theortically you can load millions of records into the hash file. However, if each record contains hundreds of fields then you wi...

Thanks for your quick response! Just to clarify a few things that I should probably have mentioned before (apologies). The target 7.5 server is up-and-running, and currently holds a working project (we are now importing another project mainly as a reference point). We are fairly confident that the i...

DataStage Upgrade Issue

Hello all, We have been upgrading a Server project from v7.0 to v7.5 in the Unix environment. We have done this by exporting the project from the v7.0 server and importing the project to the v7.5 server. However, we are getting error messages on the import when DS is trying to upgrade the jobs, and ...
