:shock: It was too difficult to arrange 'sudo' privledges so they just gave you the root password? Err... ok. By default, 'dsadm' is the administrator id, nothing magical you have to do except under Tru64 from what I recall. All you should have to do is make sure it is created before you start the ...

A 'root install' means it is installed by the root superuser. I've also been able to do it as 'dsadm' via 'sudo' privledges granted by root to me on the install script. It's a fairly simple process as server installs go, so you really shouldn't have any problems with it. And all of the steps are in the Installation and Upgrade Guide pdf in your Docs directory. Craig nailed it quite right. The install is fairly simple for AIX. We have the same install you are getting ready to do and had little trouble with it (other than ignorance on our part as we did not fully RTFM). I suggest reading the Installation and Upgrade Guide fully before beginning the process...
