Do not stop the Engine....Do not kill Unix processes....refer to topics here "how to unlock" and your answer will set you free....you can unlock via dssh or via Administrator command.....anyway its well documeted here...

Well nothing special except do not keep all versions over time. If you do not delete versions then the Project gets extemely large. You can use a Sequencer Routine Activity Stage and call the Stored Procedure from there as another option. You can also write Job Control.

YES no problem, to me a non-root install simply means needing to run post install scripts to make it look like root such as setting impersonation mode.

I like root install with dsadm as the acccount designated

Just do a root installation and assign dsadm....there are no pros and cons...if you do a non-root then you have post install scripts to run such as setting impersonation mode and so on....just do root....non root has no value....

Just to summarize here because the answer was said in several ways. If your running the Job via your Director Client then "no limits" is fine....If your running the Job via dsjob the the "no limits" won;t work because "no limits" is stored on a developers individual Cli...

Universe Stage and substrings

In the Universe Stage I know I can write some SQL type code. I'm doing something silly when trying to execute a substring function as follows: SUBSTR(FULL.TEXT,1,254).....I even tried @SUBSTR(FULL.TEXT,1,254) but still no go.... The error I get is "call to SQLFetach failed.....row length exceed...

The server you have DataStage installed....what is the name of the SMTP server this server points to? The SMTP appears not to be on the DataStage server so find out the name and point it to there....

Well your entry in the Project uvodbc.config of MERCURY looks fine....Now yes you need a entry in the .odbc.ini file within $DSHOME....Did you name the entry in .odbc.ini MERCURY?
