Is it OK to use a unix rm statement to remove the orphan datasets in my resource disk "/cba_app/dstemp/iis_fdm/datasets/temp01" {pools ""} directories ?
I would use orchadmin rm on them, but the dataset definition files have already been deleted.

Understanding Environment Variables
I have 3 projects (DEV, SIT & UAT) In DEV, the &PH& logs state... The variable "APT_NO_JOBMON" is not in the environment. The variable "APT_PM_PLAYER_TIMING" is not in the environment. In the other two, the &PH& log states... The variable "APT_DISABLE_COM...

Re: How to kill a job when DsDirector Stop does not work
Thanks for that, I shall try it out next hang... I think my "hangs" are related to my "aborts". Today I got a "PID 21174 has failed", 2 "Failure during execution of operator logic", 2 "not a runnable job" and one "other error". All jobs ran...

The DBA is a helpful chappy, open to bribery, and I expect his assistance the next hang. As for our select/update strategy, our parallel jobs select from their own staging tables, work within their own datasets, and then insert into their own partition of the datamart. I think this is fairly efficie...

That would be too simple Ray, I have a situation where a corporation use this server, and no one in particular is resoponsible for what happens... I need a crash course on SysAdmin of DS (easily said than done). I have a technique of re-compile and re-index which sorts the problem out, but it is a b...

How to kill a job when DsDirector Stop does not work
I have a sequence, calling a sequence, calling a sequence, calling a job. For some reason, the job hangs. I've tried stopping the job via DsDirector's Stop button, and get a "stop has been sent to the server" dialog box. After a while, when nothing appeared to happen, I tried "stoppin...

OK, I've recompiled the project and reindexed it. Ran a few jobs that had been causing me problems, and they ran ok. I banked up a series of jobs and have left them running over the weekend. I shall investigae on monday. A problem is that there are other teams using the server, and I can't see what ...

Jobs suddenly become un-runable
Whilst running a series of sequences, all of a sudden, a series of jobs became unrunable. Some gave a -99 "other error", some claimed the job was not compiled and others reported "not executable RT_etc" problems. Re-compiling the jobs fixed the problem. My questions are, "am...
