Who is logged on DataStage

Hi All We have a 10 user development license. When I try to login, I often get the message stating all 10 development licenses are already in use. How do I find out which users are logged into DataStage i.e. is there some kind of log in the DataStage engine (Universe database) where I could si...

Best Practice

What would be nice is a best practice that is categorised e.g. Connectivity --> Oracle, DB2, Sql Server etc could show examples of what should be in the odbc.ini, uvconfig and dsenv files. Pointers to watch out for when setting up connectivity e.g. security issues, database client issues etc. What I...

DB2 Bulk Loader Stage

Loading a flatfile with fixed width columns. We have to use the Bulk Loader Stage, since the normal DB2 stage only loads at 80 rows per second. The Bulk Loader stage reaches up to 800 rows per second. The problem is that the job will load all the records in the DB2 table, but will not Finish. The jo...

Jobs do not appear in DS Manager, Designer or Director

 The problem we are experiencing is that every now and then the jobs disappear from the client tools. I can still export them, but they are not visible in DS Manager, Designer or Director. One of the ways to fix this is to do a Rebuild Repository Indices using DS.TOOLS or to recreate the projec...

Performance Testing

 I want to create a DS project with jobs/templates that allow one to test performance. This like: how fast does the database spool the data to DataStage? how fast does DS read sequential files? how fast does DS write to sequential files? etc All the above is really to help developers get a bas...

Hi George

Have you tried using the LINK PARTITIONER stage. It will allow a single input stream to be split up to 64 ways thereby utilising the SMP architecture (you need to have the Inter-Process option selected).

Hi Byron

XP is only supported as a client, not a server. This does not seem to be widley documented, because it came out a few times at Ascential World 2004. The Ascential engineers stressed that XP never was a server supported platform and never will be...just so y'all know.

I'm using Windows 2000 Professional. I have checked all the services, all are running. Just seems strange that I can't specify a user name/password when I login to DS.
