Hi, I'm not complaining but just in case you weren't aware, I'm pretty sure when I submit a post using safari, it doesn't work.

can you delegate dsadm "add project" to another id
Hi, We work in a large organization that wants to lock (only allow su, can't use administrator gui) the dsadm id. Peoplesoft support told me you could delegate dsadm to another id but as far as I can see you can't delegate the "add project" priveledge of dsadm to another id. You can delega...

Arndt, Thanks. I had some other threads on this. problem was that the se server wasn't coming up after working well for 2 weeks. I got impatient with peoplesoft support and filed an ascential ticket and got the answer. Somehow from the unix side major pieces of $DSHOME/DSEngine got deleted, like all...

Hi, We resolved this today with the help of a very senior IBM Datastage Support person. I don't know how much will be of general interest but this is what happened. Something (probably unrelated to Datastage on the Unix side) deleted a large number of files in our $DSHOME .../DSEngine directory, all...

is there a unix datastage uninstall?
Hi, If you have decided you want to re-install datastage on a server that already has the datastage server (the current one is not working) is there a Unix uninstall for the Datastage server? Or do you just wipe the disk drive where Datastage was and that's good enough? I searched on uninstall and o...

output from SE server in debug mod
Hi, This is the output from bringing our SE Datastage server up in debug mode. Any body see anything actionable? logfile for bin/uv -admin -start
Hi, We are starting our Datastage SE server and it is not coming up even though the direct message associated with the start says it's coming up. Is there a logfile for SE that shows what's it's doing and what error's it's getting when bin/uv -admin -start is issued? ... Flash

could an odbc change blow up an SE installation?
Hi, Something incredibly bad happened to us this afternoon. We went in to bounce the datastage server and the dsenv file and uvconfig file and maybe other files in the $DSHOME had dissapeared. This may have happened because of some error on the Unix side but I want to be sure of something. I got som...

Do I need, can I have SID=Oracle SID in Oracle odbc defintio
Hi, Our SE/Oracle link is working quite well thanks to this site. We are using a huge Peoplesoft Schema (1000+ tables) and Oracle Plug In Import is taking a 1/2 hour to come up. It is not an EE site and the Orchestrate import is not working. We want to use the Oracle ODBC drivers so we can import Or...

I would like to 2nd what Ray and Aarndt said about learning EE. I have learned 100's of pieces of IT software in my life. I mostly recommend to people that they just learn tools on the job. I have taken almost no classes. But one class I was glad I took was the EE class. Some very different non-intu...

Yes, Don't be afraid of your operating system. If it's Unix go in with view and you should be able to see what's going on at the point in the file you are having a problem. In terms of chucking blank lines maybe a preprocessing step. If you are using CR/LF they are ascii files. So you could preproce...

Hi, I used the OCI8 to OCI9 Utility and it worked, I can vouch for it. I believe it is officailly unsupported by IBM though. I work for a big company too so I can relate to you not having any access. But I would say unless someone in the admin group can fix the problem you have to get some access. O...
