Nimusage, I'm curious. Your Datastage server failed completely but you still had the Unix versions of your project. That's what happened to us but I can't figure out why. You reinstall and have your old project. Is that what happened to you. I want to encourage you to get a Premium membership. I got...

can you write an ebcdic file with packed decimal with se ds
we are in a situation where we are trying to provide a mainframe file just as it is provided today with a Unix SE Datastage installation. Today one mainframe is sending another mainframe an ebcdic file with some packed decimal fields in it. First things first. We all agree CFF can't be used as an ou...

experience with Unix level project copies
Hi, I was always curious whether a Unix level backup/restore of a project would work. Ascential and Peoplesoft don't necessarily recommend unix level backups and restores of projects. I will share what happened to me when I was forced to do a Unix level backup and restore. This was on 7.5.x Datastag...

Will SE Sequences allow MP?
We have 5 datastage jobs that can all run at the same time. If the 5 jobs do all run at the same time we want them to run on different cpu's (we want the operating system to decide which cpu they run on). This machine has enough cpu's to run each job on a different cpu. We want to know if using a Da...

Hi, I want to add something important to this thread. This is embarrassing because I told this person they probably had a blank line in their file. Peoplesoft Support has told me that it is a known problem in 7.5.1.x that it adds a blank bogus row to the end of an input file in CFF stage. We were wo...

Hi, After fussing with CFF stage a fair amount I have strong advice for people. Don't try to edit cff stage inside the CFF Stage GUI. If you want to change something, clear the CFF stage, edit the copybook with notepad, and re-import the copybook. Editing the fields in CFF stage just doesn't work ev...

safari doesn't work on dsxchange
Hi, I'm not complaing but I wasn't sure if you were aware, but I am moderately sure that posting on dsxchange with safari doesn't work. I noticed other things don't work on safari, like trying to say that the thread is "complete". Not a biggy, just not sure if you were aware. ... Tom
