NLS_LANG environment variable
From the datastage director I see NLS_LANG=american_america.WE8ISO8859P1 as one of the environment variable setting. I checked DS administrator. The NLS is disabled. I checked the dsenv in the DS engine directory. Could not see NLS_LANG there. I am wondering where this variable is coming from. I wil...

Oracle date format
We recently moved from DB2 (Mainframe) to Oracle 9i for one of our database. Since DB2 date datatype represents YYYY-MM-DD, in datastage the corresponding field was char(10). As part of the move to Oracle from DB2 we needed to change a lot of jobs to accomodate oracle date value (YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM:SS...

dsjob parameters
I have a shell script that calls a sequencer using dsjob command. In the development server I do not have to procide the server connection values like userid, password. However, in the QA datastage server I need to provide the userid and password as parameters to dsjob command. Without these, I got ...

hashed file lookup
I am trying to use a hashed file to lookup based on 4 fields - 3 of which are on equality and th 4th one on inequality condition. I move the record out when the lookup is not found. For example, The lookup looks like Source.Field_1 = Lookup.Field_1 and Source.Field_2 = Lookup.Field_2 and Source.Fiel...

Oracle bulk load stage
I have a job that reads data from a DB2 table in mainframe and loads the data into an oracle table table using SQLLOad stage. There is no transformation involved. DB2STG----------->Transformer------------------->OCILoadstage The jobs run at a nice speed at about 3000 rows per second and in about 10-...

Error while compiling a job
When I compile a job I get the error message that "Cannot get exclusive access to the executable file for job XXX. Job may be being monitored". The said job was stopped by me in the director. Most likely I modified the job while the stop process was not fully complete and then tried to com...

FTP stage - ftp from Unix to Unix
I am using ftp stage to ftp Mainframe GDG file to Unix. In the development environment I simulate this functionality by ftp of the same file from one directory to another since there is no MF in the development environment. I have a job parameter for the Remote File Name in the output properties of ...

disk space full causing datastage to work weird
Due to disk space being nearly full the jobs did not function properly. The jobs either aborted without any error message. The logs in the director also could not be opened. I though the datastage server could be stopped and restarted. I did that. After restart, I can't login to any project. What I ...
