rabs,

Is there really a row in the hash file where the column is null? I assume that the keyfield in the input row is not null. Is this true? Might be a valid match. Might not.

Good luck,
Tony

Craig,

I just wanted to let you know, the developer told me that this fixed it.

Thanks again,

Craig,

Very possibly. I'll pass this along to the developer and see if that helps his problems.

Thanks!

Hi Vince! Thanks for your reply. When I run the job on the development server, I'm going against the production database server. This is the same database server used by the Datastage job run on the production DataStage server, so I should be dealing with the exact same set of data. When it fails, I...

Weird DataStage Problem

One of our developers has a job that will consistently produce the wrong answer for 1 row (that we've found) out of many. This only happens on our production server. It works correctly on the development server. Interestingly enough, it will work correctly on the production server, if you run the jo...

Yep, it is a property of the sort stage. I hadn't noticed it before. Thanks! I suppose that I've had some jobs that either aborted or I stopped manually. This is the development server, so I'm sure that's happened. I recovered 9GB of disk space by deleting them :D You don't happen to know if it's sa...

Hi Craig! I'm finding them under my project directory. You're correct that they're temp files used by the sort stage (according to the message the Ascential Support rep just left on my voice mail). He told me to move the temp directory used by the job to someplace other than the project directory. N...

soa Directories/files

Does anyone know what the soaXXXXX directories are used for? I have several that are pretty big and want to know if I can delete them?

The ones I saw had files in them named 'ipf__0', 'ipf__1', 'ipf__2', etc.

Thanks for your help,
Tony

Thanks for the reply, Kenneth. Pardon, my ignorance. What do you mean when you say "When you delete pieces and parts of a hash file, this kind of stuff happens." I didn't delete anything on this hash file until I started getting this message. And yes, I do have the create hash file check b...

Getting "Can't create file for a hash file" someti

I get the following message when I run a job more than once (it works when the hash file doesn't exist): ReconcileEffectivity..init_cons_eff.init_cons_eff: DSD.UVOpen An operating system file already exists with the name "D_cons_eff". File name = File not created. . This hash file is creat...

I thought I heard that you can have a version 7 DataStage server running on the same machine as an earlier version server. Not the same thing, of course :D

I just saw Ray's post. Nevermind! I'm obviously wrong.

Tony

Neal,

I've never tried it and can't remember how the installer works, but if you tell the two installers to install to different directories, it might work.

Good Luck,

I initially missed the forum level subscription, but with the list of posts since my last visit, I can effectively see the same thing and it keeps the traffic out of my mailbox. 8)
