Hi Arnd, I didn't think of that - the debug toolbar and I have never been very good friends. Unfortunately the client went back to DS 7.5 this morning so I've lost my test environment. I'm going to try to reproduce on the Linux server here and then I'll have a go at debugging. Thanks for all of the ...

Hi Ray,

No insult taken and yes I am looking at the same data file that the job is writing.

Still no news from the support people on this.

Thanks

Hi, The Director says that 133000 rows written to the data file. The data file only has 452 rows in it - just checked again When I manually load the data file into the database there are only 452 rows loaded - so everything that is in the data file is loaded to the database. By "execute the bul...

Hi, Latest on this issue is the client that I had this problem at decided to go with a different OS so we never got anywhere with Ascential's support. Now the same thing has happened at another site. This place is dedicated to going the Linux route. The same job on an earlier version of DS 7.5 ran f...

Problems linking File with Look up

Hi all I have a problem. I am reading data from a file and I have a look up (hashfile). To link the source file to the hashfile I check the source file column that is supposed to link to the key in the hash file if it is between two values:if that is the case I then use column 1 as the "key&quo...

Thanks for the info :D

In that case we'll find another way around these big files.

Thank you again for all of your help.

Thanks Arnd, We exported the jobs from 7.1 and imported them into 7.5.1. Yes the hash file is deleted and created in each run as it was in 7.1. I think what must have happened is that the modulo and seperation were changed around the same time as the upgrade because I'm certain that the file wasn't ...

Hi Arnd There have been no changes in the data from the time that this was working and now. Visually it all looks the same. Possibly there is a little bit more data but it is a tiny amount more. This is the error message. Card020CreateSnapshotLoadFile..HSH_CARD_CNTRN_FIELDS.LN_HSH_CARD_CNTRN_FIELDS:...

Hashed files size in 7.1 vs 7.5.1

Hi everyone We recently upgraded from version 7.1 to 7.5.1 and have experienced some strange behaviour from hashed files that used to be fine. We have jobs that read in from a source and load data into a 32bit hashed file that work fine in version 7.1. The same job, with the same amount of data is n...

Again this was on a Linux Red Hat server so I'm not sure how it works on Unix. From root directory I type "setup" and it opens up a menu with "System Services" on it. In System Services I look for the sendmail service and check that it started as indicated by a * I'll let you kno...

Hi Venu I had a similar problem to this on a Linux server recently and found that someone/something had stopped the sendmail service on the server. The following parameters in the call to DSSendMail were not mentioned in the file 'dssendmail_template.txt': server This message didn't seem to affect t...

Do you preserve the bulk loader data file created by DataStage? Yes. I have the bulk loader set to manual load and then looking at the file before doing the load and it doesn't contain all of the rows. When I do a load into Sybase IQ all of the rows in the data file are written so I don't feel that...

Yes the job stops writing to the loadfile at the same place relative to the amount of data in the source file. The job itself doesn't abort or give warnings. As the source file is a calender it gets bigger by one row every day. About 62% of the rows are written by the bulk loader. Also sometimes som...

Hi Arnd, As far as I can tell there aren't any non displayable characters/ strange things in the source file. There is only one column containing dates to build a calender. In the transform we then use the dates to create some other date fields, year, quarter etc. The file is not large at all 90kb. ...

IQ12 bulk load on Linux

Hi, DataStage version 7.5.1A OS: RedHat Ent Linux 3 update 3 I have a server job that reads from a sequential file, to a transformer, to a Sybase IQ 12 bulk load stage. The load stage is set for manual load. According to Director all rows are written successfully but if I look at the data in the LOA...
