Hello,

Problem has been finally reproduced at Ascential and they have opened an ECase (#59168).

The guy is asking me which priority to assign. I am not familiar with there process. What do you suggest ?

I guess we'll have to live with this for a while....

Stephane.

Thanks Craig, Then wouldn't it be a good practice to use a different stage each time a different file is used ? The file naming could appear only on the stage general tab (DAR for Ascential). Is there any good reasons to reuse a hashed file stage for differents files other then for graphical reasons...

file naming on input/output link of a hash file

:?: I wonder why there is a filename field for each input/output link on a hash file(or any passive stage per say). Shouldn't it be the same filename when I write to it then when I read it back within the same job ?

Please open the light for me.

Hi Ahmed, I am just starting with DS but I gave this one a shot to experiment too. I just tested it on 7.5 on a w2k machine with OS cmd echo. either test or hello string are output to the log but not to an output file. The file has an empty string as the data content, the first field contain a 0 con...

Thanks Ray, It works(OF COURSE!!!) and this is exactly what I was looking for. regarding my previous design the drawing really shows stages so the seqfile is written into by the 2 cmd stages and the ouput of the seqfile stage contains only the fields on that seqfile (a date in this case as it is to ...

my tables are in the localuv dsn (universe). I meant to say I simply want to restart from scratch on this table and delete all rows from the 2 dependant tables. something like: DELETE FROM tableB; DELETE FROM tableC; I thought I could acheive this in a before job/stage trigger but as I understand it...

Ray,

I understand your point.
Is it really used ? if not why ?
If seems like a good thing to me but I was told nobody uses it.
Do you recommend it to me for other reasons of documentation purposes?

Thanks.

Hello again,

I was told one way to "fix" this is w/out using the data element is:

month.tag(iconv(dslink.date,"D YMD"))

I suppose not assigning a data element DS assume it as a string (may be?) Whyis not internal date the default data element used in this case ?

Thanks....Stef
