Hi Ernie, I don't want that separate XML's should be generated for each row in the source. I am still not able to understand this behavior. Another issue is transformer eats up the first row which is unexpected. Connecting source file to target XML stage processes all the rows which is definitely an...

XML stage generates separate documents for each row
Hi All, While using the new XML stage it is creating separate XML target files for each row in the input file. I am not sure why this is happening as I can't see any such option where I can combine all rows in one document or generate separate document based on keys. I remember this option was avail...

Thanks for reply Ernie. What kind of pivoting can be used and how I can combine the data sets from multiple input streams using pivoting in Server edition so that data is on 1 input link. Please note that these data sets coming from multiple input links to XML stage can be heterogeneous in nature ha...

Hi Ernie, I already got the response from IBM support that this limitation would exists in all versions till 9.1. Today we had a discussion with IBM sales on options to upgrade to enterprise but to be honest we are really not looking forward to upgrade to EE just for the fact that we can't connect m...

Thanks for your reply Ernie. I have already proposed the management to move to parallel edition to use the new XML stage effeciently and also looking at the requirements we have for composing the XML's, parallel edition would be the best way to go. You are right in saying that it's meant for process...

Hi Ernie, Thanks a lot so far on this topic :) I have one more doubt:- If I create separate jobs using the XML stage for writing different data sets in one XML target, I would need to append the records in the same XML target file. I can't find an option to append records to XML target file. So if I...

I used a transformer and a file as a target along with XML stage. All rows are written to the file target but with XML stage its again the same (total rows -1).So the first row is skipped in all cases with all of my XSD's. The first row passes through the transformer and is not written to the output...

Thanks for your reply Ernie. I really wanted to know the advantages of parallel edition with XML processing and I think the one is that I can connect multiple links to one XML stage and also include more than one XML stage in one job. What long term benefits we can foresee if we decide to migrate to...

Hi Ernie and All, Yes you are correct. The stage always skips the the first row. I have set first row as header in source seq file so the header is not going forward anyways. I unchecked treat first row as header from the sequential source file. Now in this case the header along with rows goes downs...

Two XML stage targets in one job doesn't work
Hi All, Today I saw very strange behavior of Datastage server job(v8.7) which has two XML stages. So the scenario is as below:- 1.I have an XSD containing two sequences unbounded for Person and Department. 2.I am using sequential file as a source, a transformer in between and XML stage as target. Th...

Hi All, I am using a simple sequential file as a source. I am not getting any warnings in the log and the job succeeds. I am using the new XML stage as target so it does not give me the XPath anywhere. I also can't see any option of clicking repeated elements or key column in the new XML stage. I ju...
