Re: Designer is slow for creating parallel jobs (7.5.2)
I created a new project and the designer is still very slow if not impossible to use. During the pauses it is chewing up 100% of the cpu on my pc. That sounds very strange. However, I am assuming that you already checked some of the common things on your PC. Like monitoring other applications that ...

Re: Phantom Error - Caught unknown exception
There are two reasons why you might be getting those errors. 1) Someone changed the environment settings in Datastage Administrator. Some of those are default environment variables that are set up for reporting in PX. If you changed the value from "False" to "True", then when the...

SAP ABAP Stage Can See Environment Variables
We can't seem to make the Envirnoment Variables work within a Parallel Job using the SAP ABAP Extract Stage. For example, if you have USERNAME set to #$R3ID#, this Env Variable doesn't work. The ABAP Stage sees it as a Job Parameter such as #R3ID#. This is true for the PASSWORD Environment Variable ...

Re: SmartHeap library - Out of memory error - During Job Imp
When trying to load DataStage jobs into the metadata directory, I am getting this error. "SmartHeap library - Out of memory error" I am getting this even when I select very few jobs. Is there some configuration issue I am missing with the MetaStage Explorer. As I am also getting low virtu...

Re: Web component on AIX
Hi everybody, I am wondering if the web components (jsp pages) of metastage can be or have been ported to websphere on UNIX. Any experience, idea or any sharing would be appreciated. Thanks. 8) Hello dfong, You can port the JSP pages to Websphere on Unix. That by itself is not a problem. However, s...

CASS Signal 11 error
Does anybody know what a "Signal 11" error means when you are running CASS and Qualitystage? The job in Qualitystage aborts with this error. We are trying Cleanse a 14 Gig file. We did run successfully with a 5 Gig file. Does anybody know what the limit is??

Hello My Fellow DSer, This could be a very long answer. Iwill try to make it short. I will also make some assumptions. If we are talking about Windows, you can run a command script that pulls the value from the file. Hint: use the batch file commands and a parameter value in your command script. Onc...

Re: main_program: No collation sequence found for en_US, usi
Hello My ETL Friend,
This looks like a Unix permission error. The job may run, however, it may not be able to write to the Unix server. You may want to verify the permissions of the person who created the job and the one running the jobs.

Re: how does DataStage connects to Oracle?
Hello Srini, It looks like you are using the Oracle Enterprise Stage. I am not clear on where the bottleneck is. However, you might want to benchmark the Oracle Enterprise Stage with the Dynamic RDBMS Stage (DRS Stage). You may find some performance improvements depending on what your Datastage jobs...
