Re: same, but different
The answer? It seems there was still some DataStage 7.5 components installed. *> completely de-install DS 7.5 *> completely de-install DS 8.5 *> reboot *> make sure the Registry contains no DS reference (not sure if this step was necessary, but I took it anyway). *> re-install DS 8.5 *> re-install F...

same, but different
The issue I'm seeing is *mostly* the same as described, but sufficiently different to be causing me grief. We are 8.5 (fully-patched). When I view the Oracle stage, it defaults to 'grid-style' and doesn't give me the option to view in the previous format. It means I do not have access to the SQL <ta...

Remote Oracle access with ODBC
I've had a quick look around this site, but didn't find the magic document that explained all. We have a need now to use DStage Server on one platform and talk to an Oracle instance on another platform (both AIX). Whilst I can probably find a manual somewhere that talks me through configuring AIX OD...

Canned Demo ?
I've been asked to do a mini-presentation of DataStage to a few of the Business Analysts here. Nothing too technical, but selling them on the features / benefits.
Does someone have a canned-demo that I could 'lift'? Or suggestions on just what to include in a song-dance routine?

I think I found my answer in reading manuals (!!!) This from the dsupgde.pdf (V7.0.1, Dec 2003) in the DataStage manual set... UCI is a SQL-based C API for UniVerse. It provides all the features required for SQL applications from the C language. DataStage does not use the UCI client and although Dat...

UCI / BCI and DS v7
Didn't I read in the upgrade notes that UCI has been removed from DataStage as at v7? Doesn't the BCI use UCI when communicating with a UNIVERSE datasource (other than <localuv>)? If so, does this mean that we can no longer use the uvodbc.config mechanism to communicate between Projects(whether on t...
