Informatica Grid
I have been hearing about Informatica Grid recently as an alterantive to Ab Initio and EE. Anyone here have any working experience with it. I have used all 3 tools but have never used the Grid version of Informatica.

Is there a way to name files in the Scratch directory
One of our jobs in a batch is using up a lot of scratch space. We can pinpoint by running one at a time but that will be time consuming. Is there a variable or soemthing which allows each job to name the temp files in scratch directory via a prefix or suffix. This was it would be easy for us to tell...

Datastage 8.0 slow compile
We have imported some jobs from 7.5.2 to 8.0. Job compilation is very slow. Even jobs with say 3-4 stages take about a minute or so to compile. These used to take 3-4 seconds in 7.5. Has anyone seen this. Any tips to improve compile time. Searched for postings using "slow compile' compile speed...

Think we found it (Possibly a logging issue)
1. We are executing in a loop for about 100 instances. 2. Now this has been running for the last 2 months non stop and we recently noticed that timings had increased from running all 100 instances in 5 mins to about 1 hour. In looking deeper we found they were being run sequentially. Yesterday we st...

The two migrations I have seen are reduced licensing cost. For the most simplest of AB Inito jobs the migration can be done cost effectively. For anything which use things like dynamic metadata, conditional components, scans, continuous, xmls etc etc the migration cost is high, but depends on the nu...

RCP in datastage is very limited. What you are asking you will have to be done with transformers and/or modify stages or with custom operators using osh but even then it may not be the same and you may end up with a custom job per source-target. In DS it is easier to hardcode than do highly paramete...

Re: Migration from Abinitio to Datastage
In Enterprise edition the two features that come close to the dynamic metadata supported by abinito are schema files and runtime column propogation. There are quite a few restrictions to this though e.g. it is one way i.e. you can't use schema files like you can use dml files on the output side. RCP...

I didn't see the answer to this question through searches. Am I assuming correctly that this is currently not possible in Datastage and I will have to write an extternal routine using icu etc and call it thru datasatge. In general the question is like this: If my data contains in one row date1,timez...
