$APT_CONFIG_FILE

On our EE server, we've created a new APT_CONFIG file such that we now have two files - the original version and the new version. In one of our projects, we have modified the project default for the $APT_CONFIG_FILE to point to this new file. Will jobs within this project that do not add the $APT_CO...

Thanks to both of you for your quick (and helpful) responses. Ray - I do have one follow-up question... Your response suggests that "Auto" can mean different things in different stages. This certainly makes sense considering the various functions performed. In which DataStage document can ...

Partitioning in Lookup Stage

Despite reading through a large number of posts as well as the DS documentation, I'm still not entirely clear on some aspects of partitioning for lookup stages. I'd like to perform a lookup against a text file and have chosen to use a lookup stage. By default, the "Auto" option is selected...

Can data sets support concurrent writes?

I have a number of jobs that will be writing to the same data set. Can they run concurrently, or can data sets only be written to by one job at a time?

Thanks!

I've read in another post that datasets containing bounded-length varchar fields can grow to be be quite large as they allocate almost the full amount of space defined, even when only a few characters of the varchar field are actually used. Is the total size of your datasets much larger than your se...

If you set the Null Field Value property to "" you will get adjacent delimiters in your output file. This only seems to work for certain datatypes. What if my inbound delimited source file represents Null dates using adjacent delimiters? When I set the Null Field Value to "", I ...

Is there really no way to do this? I'd like to replace an existing process that produces an output file with NULL dates represented by adjacent delimiters rather than a substituted value representing NULL.

I was wondering about data types like dates or decimals. I don't seem to be able to represent these using the method you describe.

Nulls in Pipe delimited file

Simple question.... I need to generate a pipe delimited sequential file where NULLS are represented by having no data between two delimiters regardless of the data type. For example, if I have three fields in a file definition, and only the first field has a value for a given record, this would be r...

Sybase table locked

We've encountered a problem with one of our jobs that selects data from Sybase via an ODBC stage. Although the job appears to complete succesfully with no warnings, and the results appear valid, the dba claims that the source table is locked up after the job completes. Has anyone else experienced th...
