Can someone tell me where I can read a good primer on NLS unicode and ustring. I've never dealt with it before and I don't know enought to even know what questions to ask. I only know that specifying it or not can/does result in implicit conversions from ustring to string. Just need to understand it...

That is exactly what is going on. The default db for this Id is lowes_vm. Is it possible to direct ORCH_WORK to a different db?
