Do we need a dedicated WAS administrator for 8.1?

We are planning to upgrate our system from 7.5 to 8.1. Want to know which component gives more trouble out of Engine layer,WAS or XMETA. There is a patch by IBM which take care of this oracle warning and the patch number is e117761_aix_DS7511.tar
you may want to ask them about this.
