Packaging DataStage Server Install on Unix
Has anyone packaged their DataStage install in a manner that you can push it other boxes without giong through the whole setup process? I was hoping to get some feedback or suggestions on packaging the install so I don't have to contact a Unix SA to perform a root install with me everytime I have to...

Determining DataStage Version.
I'm probably the only person with this issue, but I need to find out what release of DataStage I'm on. I know that sounds very silly, but being a PeopleSoft Ascential user, we get our software through them. The last version we got from them was 7.1 and I need to verify what the version is. I know wi...

It is certainly the PS1 prompt that is causing my issue of not being able to start the daemon with dsadm. Does anyone have an example of a good prompt they use that doesn't have any issues starting the daemon? I have grown to rely on the $PWD in the prompt and would like to continue to have it, but ...

I found the issue. It was related to my custom PS1 prompt for my shell. I set my PS1 in my profile like this. export PS1=' ($PWD)\ $ORACLE_SID':`hostname -s`'>' Something in the daemon startup must be parsing the environment variables to pickup things like $ORACLE_SID and it's tripping up on this va...

Well that figures! I'm on AIX 5.2, and in the documentation there is a section that talks about a LDR_CNTRL environment setting. The section specifically states this as a measure to put in place for out of memory issues. I didn't bother with this setting because we were having any memory issues. I w...

Not the first time I've had incomplete debugging data, or the ever so wonderful specifically non-descriptive error logging that most software products produce. At one point I was getting an error generated in the $DSHOME/dsenv.errs.xxxxx file that suggested it couldn't figure out my Oracle_sid varia...

My issue is a strange one in that the root id itself can start the daemon no problem. My dsadm ID using a sudo command can't start the daemon. When root starts the daemon everything is fine and works like a charm, but not so when I use the sudo command. I'm looking at it today with an SA, hopefully ...

I'm having issues with my install and have also used a sudo solution. My install was done as root and everything went fine except for the fact that the dsadm ID can run $DSHOME/bin/uv -admin -stop, but -start does nothing. I had assumed I would need to run the command as root since root can start it...

My only reservation about using a windows method or client side is that it takes forever. The delivered set of ETL maps from PeopleSoft contain about 1738 jobs. It took me 5 hours on my client to import them into a project. I did it in about an hour on the Unix server side. I'm mainly concerned with...

I actually found what I was looking for with the import. I don't know about anyone else, but I have the hardest time finding information in the delivered .pdf documentation from Ascential. Anyhow, what I did from the unix server side was to log in as the admin user and run this command line. dsjob -...

I thought I found a thread in here addressing my question, but I can't find it now through searching so I'll be bad and tack on to this thread. Can anyone give me an example of an import/export from the command line on a DataStage Unix Server. From my understanding it can be done using the dsjob com...
