I just about answered my own question just now. I see that I can customize the menu and there is an option to create a default palette right there for the project. I still have issue with how or why installs on different machines show different options without doing anything specific. Maybe I missed...

Problem with seeing Database plugins on Palette.
Has anyone seen this issue before. I just had a developer install Datastage 7.1 client on their Windows XP machine. They log in and couldn't see the drs stage on the Database palette of the design tool. Here it gets really strange. My machine had 5 stages on the database palette. ODBC, Universe, DRS...

PeopleSoft Unix Process Scheduler running DataStage jobs.
For those interested, I put together a Unix version of the PeopleSoft delivered Windows Bat file to run ETLs using the Process Scheduler. I'm curious is anyone else has something like this, and if so please send me a copy or post it here in the forum. I'm not the best scripter in the world so I'm su...

On a somewhat related note, is there a way to increase the minimum.modulus of a hash file without removing and recreating it? The HFC program suggests the command CREATE.FILE <FILE NAME> DYNAMIC MINIMUM.MODULUS 23 32BIT I try that and it says the file already exists, and that is a fact it does exist...

I'm also running 7.1r1 so it looks like the issue is still lingering. My main concern is with our developers getting the passwords out of the logs. If I can't rely on the encrypted variables I'll have to do something else. Logically I shouldn't be too concerned since a variable would allow the devel...

Possible bug with Encrypted Variables.
Has anyone seen issue with using Encrypted variables for passwords and not having them resolve at the time of job run? For some reason the variables are not resolving. If I type them in manually at the time of run the job goes fine, but if I rely on the variable to pickup the value it fails with a u...

I started down this road because I wanted to segregate the projects by development phase. I found early on that it didn't buy us anything that the built in security can't already do. The reason for my question is because PeopleSoft claims in a training class they present that most of their clients a...

Multiple DataStage Server instances on one Machine
I couldn't find any information on this topic. Is it possible to install multiple instances of DataStage on a single Server? Each instance would maintain it's own Projects. Anyone have any information on this or know if it is possible?

How to put Security in Project Template
Along the same lines, does anyone know how to put a Security setup into the project template. By default and new project does not have a .prodmgr.adm, .developer.adm, or .operator.adm. I made an assumption that by configuring a project the way I wanted the security and copying these three files into...

Unable to remove shared memory segment(s) during shutdown:
Just wanted to give folks a heads up who are on the AIX 5.2 platform. We have recently applied a bos.rte patch set version 5.2.0.30 to our boxes. Since that time we have been unable to down the Ascential Daemon Processes cleanly. A reboot of the system will get you back up and running in the meantim...

Xanadu, It was my understanding that only the destructive jobs cleared the table before insert of new data. Any incremental load jobs would not truncate the table first. If this is not happening, you may want to check your options setup on the project. I know from PeopleSoft they set the default to ...

Unfortunately, most of my work to date has centered around the install and configuration of DataStage for use with PeopleSoft. We haven't actually entered the development phase of the project yet. As a matter of fact we only just had two developers attend training at the end of July. We are getting ...
