Deleting sequential files/dataset files
:?: How can I delete files created in the sequential file stage? How can i automate this process (deleting files). We are accumulating files and need to get rid of them and keep them from accumulating in the future. Obviously we don't want to delete what we need. I'm familiar with the dataset manage...

DB2 REMOTE CONNECTION (Client Instance Name)
Hi everyone, thanks for reading. :? I have a Server box with three lpars(test, prep, prod). Datastage is installed on the test lpar. All of my DS jobs are ran from the test environment using test db2 data. However we want to remotely connect to the prod environment to access prod data, but I can't f...

I understand why you think these questions are scary. I asked them in a way that would lead Someone to believe I know nothing about programming (my mistake). I am very familiar with B, C, and C++ and how one is an expansion or progression on the other all the way into JAVA. I know they are programmi...

People tell me that Datastage uses BASIC code. What is the difference between BASIC, C, and C++? I'm currently teaching myself C/C++, but not sure If it will help me as far as Datastage is concerned. Are they all the same thing? What is the difference? Thanks for your time, input and patience. :? :?...

Dataset vs Sequential file
I am creating a dataset in 1 job, that is being brought into another job, but it isn't giving me static results.
However, when I use a sequential file, the data is as expected.
Why the difference?
Thanks

How do I set Datastage deadlock daemon for DS PX.
Hello everyone, I have seen a lot of talk on this forum regarding the Datastage deadlock daemon and how it can clean up after defunct processes. How do I use this and where can I find more info? Can I use it with PX jobs.
Thanks for your time!!

Using lookups without specifying lookup keys
I am trying to pull a field off of a DB2 table, that contains just one value. It contains nothing but a counter that I need to pull off for each record I process. The problem I am running into is that this table does not contain a key to lookup on. I simply need to select the field off of the table ...

I'm thinking about upgrading to Datastage Enterprise v7.5
Hi, I need to get your opinions on upgrades!! :) I'm thinking about upgrading to Datastage Enterprise v7.5 from 7.0(unix), but I'm not sure what to expect. Was upgrading to new Datastage versions easy or difficult for you and why? When new versions come along are there a lot of bugs and problems tha...

APT_STRING_PADCHAR
Hi thanks for reading and I appreciate your time!!! Datastage PX version 7.0 I'm wondering how I can override the global value in the APT_STRING_PADCHAR at a job level using the job parameter. When I try to bring in the APT_STRING_PADCHAR into my job and assign a new value it doesn't keep the new va...

QUIESCE EXCLUSIVE STATE
Hello has anyone ever had to deal with a QUIESCE EXCLUSIVE STATE error? We aborted a job but locks were not released. Also does anyone know at what point Datastage ask db2 to apply the exclusive lock? If a load goes belly up and a lock is still out there, who has authority to realease lock? Your hel...
