hi, let's do it one by one: If so, click on it. When you get to the report page (where you can add stewards, notes, terms for your report, and enhance this metadata with a screen shot), do you have a database table listed? Click on that table. Make note of its full name (Host.Database.Schema.Table) ...

Everything makes kind of sense now. I do have the Version 8.1.1 and I was able to import the table definitions using the ODBC. The only thing I couldn't manage yet was the Data Lineage. In another project I had some Cognos 8.4 Reports. After I had imported the reports using the Import Export Manager...

Hi, @Ernie You said: "now you have to write your DS jobs to move the actual "contents" of those tables... " After I've importet the metadata, why do I need to move the actual contents aswell? I thought the Information Server uses only the Metadata?!?! And let's say I can move the...

I think I'm being misunderstood here :) It is not possible for me to import the actual metadata I want from the SQL-Server because when I start the import-process (DataStage-->: import...table definitions....ODBC... ) I can't see it in the import-window. like I said I only see the Cognos 8.4 metadat...

hello again, first of all no, there are no unix "platforms" involved, like said its XP and Windows2003. And I'm a little further now, but stuck again. Ernie, I did use your suggestion (DataStage-->: import...table definitions....ODBC... ) and the connection does work too, but I think there...

hi, so you mean I can make a direct connection between DataStage, which is installed on the Server Host (Windows2003) and the SQL-Server which is running on the Client (XP) through ODBC? I always thought I had to somehow export the data from the SQL-Server first in a "file-form" and than r...

Hey Ernie, you again :) I knew I could count on you! So the whole story: The SQL Server is running on a XP-OS. The database was built by using "Cognos Data Manager Tool v8.xx" through the ETL-Jobs. This "old" tool will no longer be user, it will be switched to DataStage. But I st...

Metadat -Import from SQL Server (Cognos Data Manager)

Hello, I'm on a small project trying to import some metada from a SQL Server 2005 to our Information Server 8.1.0 (Windows Server 2003) so I can use the Metadata Workbench to analyse the jobs. The metadata was put on the SQL Server with Cognos Data Manager Tool. I'm not really sure where to start an...

Yepp! Im pretty sure that I've still got the 8.1.0. When I open up the "IBM Information Server - Web Console" and go to "info" it says version: 8.1.0. So I just ran the update routine with the .bat file of the IBM Information Server, but it did not update anything. So since the G...
