How to connect to Unidata using ODBC

I wish to connect to Unidata via ODBC using Rocket Software's Virtual Schema Generator. The documentation assumes that the user will be using an SQL product such as Access or Visual Basic and, therefore, the documentation assumes that the user will create SQL ready normalized views on the Unidata se...

Ankur, I think that I have misunderstood my own problem - please don't bother trying to answere my last response until I get my problem more clearly defined. Thank you very much for your initial response. Jack

Thank you Saxena,

The reason I wish to delete the parameter is that I now am using an environment variable in the job which is being executed by the stage, so any default value, null or otherwise, overrides the environment variable. OR did I misunderstand your solution?

how to delete a parameter from a sequence stage

How can I completely delete a parameter from a sequence stage. There is a button to clear the parameter value but there seems to be no way to delete the entry in the left hand column. The result is that it continues to pass a null parameter to its job which overrides any value for that parameter nam...

Experience switching from ORlogging to RTlogging in 8.1

We are experiencing system slowdown when logs get big and severe slowdowns when purging logs in version 8.1 server jobs. In DSparams we have RTlogging=0 and ORlogging=1. We are considering switching back to RTlogging in the hopes that we will not see the slowdowns we are currently experiencing. Does...

error msg "clear table is a required link property"

Does anyone know what this fatal error message ("clear table is a required link property") means? It is showing up on a random basis for jobs following installation of version 8.1. It occurs frequently when modifying a job (e.g. adding a column to a table) which had been running fine befor...

using an ODBC stage to execute a stored procedure

We use the ODBC stage in order to execute procedures written in PL/SQL on an Oracle server. Of course, a DSN must be defined on the server which hosts the procedure. If the only function of the Datastage is to execute the call then we use a dummy ODBC stage to feed a dummy column to the calling ODBC...

No, they were 10g instances. However we found other users on the internet with the same problem who resolved it this way. There are problems created by using the 11g client with 10g - the major one being that date values do not format correctly with the "view data" feature. We can live wit...

For those following this thread, the solution to the Session ID problem was to replace the Oracle 10g client on the Datastage server with version 11g.

Thanks Sainath. Not exactly pertinent as we are on Windows and the problem is not occurring on all jobs. However, it does suggest that we should look at the way we are submitting the host name. Thank You.

jobs abort with "ORA-00022 invalid session ID; access d

We have just migrated to version 8.1 on windows and are experiencing random job aborts with the message "ORA-00022: invalid session ID; access denied". These jobs then always run successfully on reset/restart. The failure always occurs on the first job in a batch which accesses Oracle (Ora...
