Thanks for the quick response, Sridhar.

So what I understand is for records running into millions, we need to use the Update else Insert and for smaller amount of data we need to use Insert else Update.

Hi All

Can any one suggest on which all situations we need to use the "Insert new rows or Update existing rows" and "Update existing rows and Insert new rows" in ORAOCI8 Stage?

The SQL did NOT give an error while executed through TOAD and SQLPLUS. I am using ORACLE 8i and in that the fields are defined as NUMBER only. There is no size specified for these in ORACLE. Double-check everything, as those are the patented answers to this problem. What kind of problematic fields are included in your table? NUMBER? LONG? OCI truncated Date

Hi All... I am posting a query that has been already discussed in this forum. But none of the answers were helpful in my case. It is the warning message given within DataStage "OCI has truncated data".. I found and tried all the answers - trimming the fields, making the number 30 to 40 etc...
