Re: Unable to kill a process, file locked

Why do you think another DataStage process is still using the file. Maybe something else on your system has your file open... I once searched weeks to find out my anti-virus did stuff like that as well :D One thing you missed could also be ... translate the jobname to its internal number, and then d...

May I suggest getting a little bit of training... or playing with DataStage yourself for a couple of days. The help in DataStage itself is also pretty good.

You're not going to get far by dumping all questions you think you have on DataStage on this forum.

Search a little bit on this site.... you will find: Hash files are Universe database tables, the most comprehensive information will be in the Universe administration documentation on the IBM web site. Have a look at the FAQ on getting documentation about DataStage and follow the link to the IBM sit...

2. If you look at my first post to this thread, you will see that I have already agreed to the solution of using the -file argument for dsjob. The problem, I repeat, is that the passwords are stored in plaintext in the file. I would, rather, that the environment variables are passed as arguments to...

OK 'Mr. UNIX Guy'!!! 8) How, then, would you do it if - 1. the server is running on UNIX 2. and the above dsjob command is embedded in a ksh script with at least the userid and password as parameters 3. and we want to pass values to these parameters from the environment variable set in DS Admin cli...

Re: Getting closer (but using Macros)

It's one of the smaller weaknesses of DataStage, in 1 project I worked around it via Kettle/PDI... but that's another ETL tool and off-topic here :D

Re: Error whil executing userdefined function in DS

Forget doing that... you're trying to mix oracle and DataStage syntax. It won't work.

Re: Working with formules in Excel

No such luck, with DataStage you can only add values to excel, not formula's.

And wasn't NLS only included as of 6.x ... I don't recall 4.0 (as in the OP) having NLS at all. Also having NLS won't solve all of your data problems. Since for a lot of databases you can only include one "home instance" like DB2 e.g. if you have to write to databases using different encod...

Read the readme file of your DB2 installation... it will contain something like this which should be executed on the server. To bind db2schema.bnd on the server, execute one of these command sequences: At a command prompt: db2 terminate db2 CONNECT TO <dbname> db2 BIND <path>/db2schema.bnd BLOCKING ...

And if after using the 32bit libraries you still get the "SQL0443N Routine "SYSIBM.SQLTABLES"" you should talk to your DBA's... it's a known problem in DB2 and it requires them to set some extra access rights for your user.

Re: Problem after installing the patch...

We have received new uvsh and dsapi_slave files from IBM to fix a problem we had. Now after installing the patch number of jobs failed with the Mutex-not owner time-out problem. If we increase the time-out then it runs fine. IBM says it's not related to the patch. We had a similar thing a while ago...

There's no way to switch them off in DataStage, however if your DBA's are willing they can "remove" some of them from DB2 side.
