sorry you misunderstood. It's not the extension which is odd (although the naming convention is weird) it's about the alfanumeric code added to jobname eg: Load_CSV_Department_ 12aFef .pjb Originally the 12aFef is not part of the jobname, but during check in server manager changes the name of the jo...

CVS Integration: Weird code added to jobnames
Hi all, We are currently integrating our datastage 8.7 code into CVS. We are currently using Information Server Manager to do this. After checking in the first project we noticed that each job got an additional extension in the name eg: Load_CSV_Department becomes Load_CSV_Department_178dade9.pjb in...

Thank you all for the information. Does anyone know if there is a good opensource resource manager ? We currently don't have any experience with the ones listed in the redbook. In the redbook it is mentioned that every tool has some additional options, but that the core functionality for running job...

Going from cluster environment to Grid
Hi all, We are currently starting a project to go to a complete new infosphere environment. Our current environment is 8.1 running in a cluster (on solaris) and our goal is to end with a grid implementation running on 8.7 (on RHEL, including new hardware). Now I've read the webinar and the redbook o...

Oracle Connector and TAF mechanism
Hi all, I got a question from our DBA today if it was possible to implement oracle TAF (Transparent Application Failover) within datastage. After looking through the Redbook "Infosphere Datastage Parallel Framework Standard Practices" it is said that this is possible with new oracle connec...

Ok some feedback if others should ever have the same problem. We logged a PMR and the issue got resolved. Following steps had to be done: 1. Upgrade the branded_odbc drivers with newer driver version from data direct ( version Solaris32-odbc53-091007.tar.z) 2. Add the odbc directory for mysql to LD_...

MySQL driver can't be loaded
Hi, I've been browsing the forum but can't seem to find the solution. The problem is as follows. We want to make a datastage (8.0.1) connection to a MySql database. On the solaris machine we have added the drivers for solaris. In my .odbc.ini I've made the following entry at the start of the file: M...

Hi, We have had the same problem. Our problem is with DS version 8.0.1. Problem was the backward compatibility of the clients (client version is not fixpack 2 compatible, but the server has fixpack 2 installaled). Patch number to fix the problem is: patch_JR33177v4_xmeta_all_8012 IBM also has a sepe...

I believe there is no official support from datastage 7.5 for oracle 11. Oracle 11 is supported from datastage 8.X This might the source of your problem. Otherwise drop the partition option and see if you can connect. Someone who had the problem with version 10: http://datawarehouse.ittoolbox.com/gr...

Export user credentials
Hi, We will shortly be doing a reinstallation of datastage 8.0.1. Currenlty we have environments were around 20 user accounts exist. I'd like to avoid recreating every account and setting the correct security after the re-install. Is there a process which will allow me to easily export the user conf...

It's the should part that worries me :D We've seen alot of problems in 8.0.1 moving from one fixpack to the other (and some additional loose patches) before we had a stable production environment. For the project plan I need to asses if we need to do a clean install or upgrade. We have alot of jobs ...

Moving From 8.0 to 8.1: Through upgrade or fresh install ?
Hi, We are currently planning to go from datastage version 8.0.1(fixpack 2 )to 8.1 (on solaris). Now I've consulted the IBM website and instead of doing a fresh install and recreate every project (and reimport the jobs), it is also possible to upgrade. Does anyone know what the best course of action...
