can you output data to a text file?

I'm kind of new at this still and was wondering if there was a way to output data in a fixed width format to a text file?

Thanks for responding to my post, I have 298gig available on my output folder so i dont think its that. also, I wrote a 13gig file to that folder on the same day. the ulimit results are: time(seconds) unlimited file(blocks) unlimited data(kbytes) unlimited stack(kbytes) unlimited memory(kbytes) unli...
