RH Linux Kernel version

Hi Guys
  • Is DS server certified to run on RH linux kernel 2.1?
If not, what are the risks of running on the kernel version?
Thanks

I do think there are many applications of the before/after subs, but one could be to check the value of a column in another table and depending on that value something could happen to the input column... far fetched though... I do not think before and after for a stage is the best thing because ever...

Thanks Chuck, does this mean that every character comparison done in a transformer is converted behind the scenes?

string "0" = "00" but integer 0 = 00

Hi guys When comparing "0" = "00" character datatypes, why does datastage insist that the values are equal? Is DS converting the chars to internal numeric values before comparing? I have tried CRC32 and CHECKSUM on the values and when comparing they are definitely not the same. W...

Vik

Try the table definition with less columns, 10 for instance and test if that works. If it works, its probably too many columns for the CFF.

Actually, it may very well be the protected project which VC has known problems with. What exact version of the 7.x software are you running? A quick test would be to unprotect the project just before promotion and then reprotect it afterwards. See if things upload normally then. I will test the su...

Thanks ArndW I doubt the protected project is the culprit, because version control maintains how the jobs are promoted. All I am not allowed to do is change jobs in the protected environment. I hope someone can shed light, but for now I have jhust cleaned up the &PH& directories and brought ...

funny we couldn't :(
we ended using windows ds server for imports.
please post when you resolve this.
Roy

its all about setting up your .odbc.ini and dsenv with IQ. As Luk points out, OC cannot import table defs, only ODBC.

How did you do it using DS server?

Hi ArndW

I am using version control to promote and demote the jobs between development and production, so the jobs are overwritten without prompts.

Sequencer Information

environment: projects: development version_control (vc repository) production (protected) I have a sequencer that i demote with its corresponding jobs from the production environment. I then make minor changes to the job - like add a sequencer and a link to the sequence_job. What I found is that aft...

Hi Luk

Can you import table definitions using the OC? As far as I am aware, you can only import table definitions using ODBC (which is what you re doing). I ask because if you can import using OC, its a major change from IQ12.5 - and a positive one at that!

Can you tell me if this has been resolved yet?

Can you also tell me what issues if any you have had on RH with DS

Just a reminder - DS is a 32bit application, regardless of the OS. On solaris we had to specifcallly use 32bit libs.

thanks

you mean columns? i dont know what the limit is, but i have tried to go beyond 1 thousand and designer died.

how many columns do you want to work with? We have worked with just under 200 quite safely.

Seems I will have to go the ls -1 route. Thanks.
We are on solaris 9 OS and one mean array of disks. I wonder if this is fixed in 7.5?
