Do a TRIMB on the char/varchar fields, it could be spaces that you dont see.
How does the data look? does it look like its too long?

CFF occurs depending on
hi guys We are reading a variable length file in EBCDIC format. The record has an 'occurs depending on' field, that goes down any number of levels, or none. i.e. We dont have a maximum amount of occurs defined. The original code is from SAS, and we are trying to rewrite this into a CFD that DS can u...

Hi Sri Have you looked at the Aggregator stage? That could be one solution, but my experience of this stage is that it takes a while to do the necessary computations (especially with a few hundred thousand rows). Another solution would be to use an ODBC stage and just do a select from the tables - l...

unfrknbelievable  we figured it out. the 40 explained earlier was a matter of Oconv(Iconv(col,'MP'),'MP') and the spaces were revealed. The leading and trailing 0s were taken care of by changing the length of the column(s) following and including the FGL-SIC-C. the garbage that followed the F...

just updating on the PROGRESS here! It seems DS is having a problem interpreting the following (the FGL-SIC-C column defined above) 04444440 00000000 when we add a filler to the first and last 0, we seem to get the data close to a readable format. the 40 represents a space in COBOL (so i am told). N...

Hi chulet Well, one success.. - column FGL-ACNT-N comes through o.k. - column FGL-CUST-N comes through as blank (there should be data) - then i get this warning for FGL-FUND-N Invalid sign value in DECIMAL COMP-3 data, first detected in column FGL_FUND_N - NULL data generated. but a different number...

Knowing when to use what datatype conversion
Hallo guys I have 1 record that has been dumped on my PC for transfer from the CFF stage to a flat file. The 'table definition' follows: 01 DCLFGL-ACNT. 10 FGL-ACNT-N PIC S9(16)V USAGE COMP-3. 10 FGL-CUST-N PIC S9(9)V USAGE COMP-3. 10 FGL-FUND-N PIC S9(9)V USAGE COMP-3. 10 FGL-TRADE-UNION-N PIC S9(9...

Mainframe upload of Jobs
Hi all
Im just reading up on the Mainframe jobs, and have a question.
When the Job is designed and ready for upload to the mainframe, is it FTP that uploads the code to the mainframe? Are we limited to FTP? What if a companies policy is to only use connect:direct? Can we use this instead?

Ray - arent ozzies supposed to be in bed by now? :D That could work - at least for projects I have been on so far, but what about developer licenses? It works like that now, _plus_ CPU licensing for the server. Or what about paying per version - i.e. version 5 costs this much, 7 that much and 8 will...

Sorry to reply so late - was offline for a while. I turned Multithreading off on the server. I am not aware that you can tell DS to ignore multithreading. The server is unfortunately not only devoted to DS, otherwise I wouldnt have an issue with it - but, as licensing would have it, the database tha...
