Hi Ray
you're right and considering our requirements it looks like we need some Enterprise metadata repository tool but we are trying to evaluate if we can meet some of those requirements using IS suite (components like MWB /BG/IA)

Great! I belive this Metadata workbench can help us import metadata (mostly in SQL server db) directly to the Info Server repository. Do we need to use any bridges to accomplish this. Thanks again.

We're encountering similar error on windows envoirnment. IA screen, the test Connection to the source keeps failing and the error is just "Test Connection Failed." ODBC test from both domain and engine layers is successful. Thanks! in advance.

Thanks for the valuable information. Is there a component/tool on IS 8.0 platform which can convert categories and terms currently in the db tables to xml format (or directly even better) so that it can be uploaded to BG.

Thank You. In this case metadata resides on SQL server db. Most of it is technical metadata and some of it is business. Please correct me if I'm wrong such metadata can be imported using any of these components to the repository: Business Glossary, IA, DS? Thanks.

Re: Imorting metadata

Thanks for the reply.Let me try to rephrase this; we don't have source data just the metadata for some data sources and we'd also like to bring such metadata (existing) to the repository. Thanks in advance.

Imorting metadata

Is it possible to import metadata (already existing) in the database to the repository using IA or any other component of IIS 8 suite.
Since we already have metadata it doesn't require any profiling. Any guidance will be highly appreciated. Thanks
