DataStage 8.5 Fix pack 2 installation failed
I was installing DataStage 8.5 Fix Pack 2 but it was taking hours, the install progress is nearly finished and no error showed. It was hanging there for hours and eventually the root session is inactive. Can I install Fix Pack 2 again? or I need to uninstall it and then redo installation. Anything I...

We did get some performance gain from switching ZFS to UFS for hashed files location. Ah... I was wondering if this was you but I hadn't checked the older posts yet. Yes, that's me. In the meanwhile, we start to convert some jobs in critical path into parallel and also get IBM to our site to invest...

Thanks for all replies. This issue has bothered us for couple weeks. We did any necessary tweak and also raised PMR to IBM, but so far, no much improvement. We did get some performance gain from switching ZFS to UFS for hashed files location. However, the improvement is not good enough to fill the g...

I understand it's not simply windows vs unix scenario. We have done heaps of testing and monitoring. All stats show that disk /IO or performance is great, network performace is great, and other indicators say unix server is in very good condition. However, it just runs slower than windows in terms o...

Server jobs performance on unix vs windows
We are migrating DataStage 7.5 server on Windows to 8.5 Enterprise on Solaris. This is a phased project. At phase one, we only do migration from 7.5 server jobs on windows to 8.5 server jobs on solaris, without any change of job design. At phase two, we will do performance tuning and rewrite server ...

I would think your official support provider could help answer that question, or perhaps even provide pointers on setting up ZFS appropriately. Unfortunately, IBM support said it's out of their scope. No we got another problem, unix administrator may not allow us to mix ZFS and UFS. We can go eithe...

That 'freezing' is to be expected while records are flushing to disk. First suggestion - don't use writing caching. Second suggestion - create the hashed file with a large minimum modulus. Use the ... Thanks Chulett. I just registered premiunm membership but I still cannot see your full reply. I th...

Hash file performance issue
We are migrating from DataStage Server 7.5 on windows to 8.5 on unix(Soliaris) and our DW is SQL server 2005. Recently we found performance issue for hash files. A job simply reads data from DB via DRS stage and write into hash file. In 7.5 windows, 44 millions records, it takes 30 minutes but in 8....

ds_loadlibrary error in windows 2000 when access Oracle 9i

But if I run this job by a user account WITHOUT administrator privilige, an error message shows up: ds_loadlibrary: Win32 error in LoadLibrary of o...

Hi Ray, I'm Hsiuling's colleague and I'd like to follow up this problem. You are right, we have NLS enable and use CP950. This problem does not occur often and it's the first time. We did nothing change to our system but ran some multiple-instance jobs. Do you think it cause the problem. Our solutio...
