May be you can check the space in /var directory of unix system.

If you are using Oracle as database,there is a in built function new_time which does the same function

e.g select new_time('15-Mar-09 14:35:00','GMT','EST) from dual;

We are planning to upgrade Datastage from 7.5.1 to 7.5.3 and database from oracle 9i to 10g....Does anybody faced any issues during this upgrade like any stage not working as expected etc.

Also like to know if any special precaution needs to be taken for the upgrade

you are correct..putting 40 spaces is not the perfect solution ,its just a workaround to reduce warnings

your logic can be implemented in this case but it will require a transformer to put that code,which will hamper the job performance

Actually i was getting that warning for reject files

now i have put 40 spaces in the null field value of those columns and the warning got resolved.
