Infosphere CDC vs CDC stage

Hi,

I'm a bit confused about Infosphere CDC and CDC stage.
I can see CDC stage on my palette and know that it works on Before and After datasets.

But what is Infosphere CDC and where can I find it on my paletter.
What is difference between the two

I tried setting $NLS_LANG to UTF8 in the unix before running the job but looks like Datastage is opening a seperate instance when its loading the data into database. When I tried the same thing using SQLPLUS it was working fine after setting the NLS_LANG in the command promt. How do we set NLS_LNG i...

Craig, I was trying make it as scalable as possible. Any ways if we define 5 as the upper boundary, I guess the data has to be appended with 3 commas to the following row inorder to read it. Correct me if I am wrong if you think there is other workaround Incoming:p1 u1,u2. Data Modification to read ...

Oracle Enterprise Stage

Does Oracle Enterprise Stage create Control and Log files when used in UPSERT mode?

These files re created when append mode is used. For EX
ora.106506.512309.0.ctl
ora.106506.512309.0.log, but dint notice them getting created in UPSERT mode.

Thanks,

Data Stage 8.0 to 7.5

I am trying to import a job from version 8.0 to 7.5, I coded the job in 8.0 and later realised it should be in 7.5. When I tried to import it is giving me a error saying it cannot import version 8.0 jobs.
Is there a work around other than coding the whole thing again in 7.5

Thanks

Re: APT_ORAUPSERT_COMMIT_ROW_INTERVAL env variables ?

Thanks everyone for the inputs !! When UPSERT is used you are loading data in transactions, hence by using the variables you are able to assign a commit interval for the transactions When Write Method is Load you are not doing transctional inserts. You are using sqlldr. Therefore transaction size is...

Re: APT_ORAUPSERT_COMMIT_ROW_INTERVAL env variables ?

thanks, But we want to find out why is there a commit for a indirect load !! The Environment variables available to control the commit intervals are - APT_ORAUPSERT_COMMIT_ROW_INTERVAL APT_ORAUPSERT_COMMIT_TIME_INTERVAL These two environment variables work together to specify how often target rows a...

APT_ORAUPSERT_COMMIT_ROW_INTERVAL env variables ?

How can this variable be used for the UPSERT method. My understanding is UPSERT is conventional mode(INDIRECT) load. So how can you specify a commit number for indirect load?

Please advice. Thanks

Who knows? "Your mileage may vary." It may not even work (the transaction size may become too large for the UNDO tablespace). Ray, What do you suggest, my scenario is I am loading(adding) 10 mil records every day to a table and I want to do a commit after all the records are loaded. Is th...

Define your metric of "performance". Without that who can say whether "performance" will reduce (whatever "reduce" means in this context)? The metric of performance I am talking is 'time'. Say I have to load 10 million records to Oracle and it may take 30 mins with the...

Oracle Commit

I want to commit my Oracle load after all certain number of records are loaded, to achive this I know I have to set the APT_ORAUPSERT_COMMIT_ROW_INTERVAL and APT_ORAUPSERT_COMMIT_TIME_INTERVAL env variables. I read, if the value is smaller, my performance reduce. I have couple of questions on this. ...
