You just run the Information Server install all over again on the new server but only install the repository and domain layers. Leave the server layer alone (DataStage). Once the Metadata Server is reinstalled you can go into the console and hook it into the DataStage server. Again, I see how to do...

Thanks for the advice. That really helped for future development. The WISD allows your jobs to accept web service posts and returns data. However, what about my current jobs that I want to just be able to execute when ever necessary? i.e. expose the jobs to a web service where you can just execute t...

I have a similar problem. We were installing Datastage and the DEV server was restarted while we were doing this. *irritating*. When the server was back up, I tried to remove the software from Add/remove and that said there was some error with this do you want to remove from the list. I click yes. I...

The 'RTI package' no longer exists, it is now known as the 'SOA Edition'. RTI stood for Real Time Interface and SOA allows jobs to be deployed as web services and run in 'real time'. There's more to it than that, but there's the Executive Summary. Pardon my ignorance. I'm searching to see ho...

I'm currently filling the DBA's role. I don't think doing a drop and recreate index is a viable index. This requires me to constantly maintain stored procedures to keep up to date with any new indexes I or others may create and/or drop because it's not used. Currently our environment is very dynamic...

SQL disable Index then Bulk Load Problem.
I'm aware that to speed up a bulk load process in SQL we need to disable the indexes and then load and the rebuild them. So, in the SQL Bulk loader stage, I'm trying to use the Before-SQL and After-SQL to execute these statements. Before: ALTER INDEX ALL ON TableName DISABLE After: ALTER INDEX ALL O...

Repository on SQL 2005 Express Edition
Has anyone had success in installing the datastage repository on a SQL 2005 Express server? I had to install the repository on a separate SQL server due to license issues. This posed a problem because while the SQL box was busy, datastage slowed right down. I've installed a SQL express version on th...

I was hoping there would be an safer way to just point to a different server, but was prepared to re-install and restore backups. I tested the backups on many occasions, ;). So I'm sure that it'll be okay. It's a good opportunity to get rid of any space hogging rouge hash data files. Thanks for the ...

Migrate Repository
Good day all, In out datastage installation we opted for storing the datastage repository in a SQL 2005 server because we were have issues with administrating DB2 (Partly due to our lack of knowledge and human resources with DB2). The problems of space and maintenance have now stopped. However, when...

The way I have done it is that since the DataStage Job Control APIs are already exposed as a Web Service, my JSF program will call this service and execute the job selected from the job list returned by the Web Service. This way you don't have to worry about which job needs to be exposed as a Web S...

Exception Handler Sequence
Hi, I have an Exception Handler in a sequence job. If one of the jobs aborts, the EH should send an email. This is not happening even though the job is aborting. What conditions need to be set in the job to make sure the EH picks up the abort?
