yes i have NLS enabled. I tried for a couple of options also like ISO8859-1+MARKS, ISO8859-1 along with UTF-8. The issue is, the logic is working fine with most of the characters but it can't identify anything whose hex value is > 256 for these characters it's reading as ? through seq file no matter...

That's fine, so long as you edit the values file (including saving changes and closing the file) before you kick off the DataStage job whose parameter set reads the values file. As we know we can create value set in the datastage and we can pass value set as one of the parameter in dsjob command from shell script.
Is it possible to change the value of one of the parameters of a value set in shell script?
