When I used Informatica I could point to a table locally and bring it in as a source (say for an initial population or test load). I could also access the unix side if I wanted to store an output file. Just making datastage did or did not have the same functionality before I went down the FTP path.

Sorry should have been more specifc. I want to bring in a csv file as a source table in datastage but do not want to have to FTP it to unix first. Can datastage (unix setup) read csv or txt files off of a local drive.

Thanks

Accessing CSV files on local drive

Is there a way to access a CSV file on my local drive without FTP'n it into the UNIX environment.

Ok I have tried to follow the postings on this issue but I am perplexed as I am not a backend user. I am unsure if all the below steps need to take place on my user ID or the datastage box as a whole. I can pull my table over using the orchestrate import tool (so no issues with getting the metadata)...

orchestrate schema vs plug-in metadata definitions

Are there issues with importing tables through the orchestrate schema definitions versus the plug-in metadata definitions? I have heard that when using paralleism the table structure that is imported through the orchestrate method works better then if it is done using the plug-in meta. Is this true?...
