If you can't get the unix ODBC driver for Excel, you can always just write a macro to save your Excel into csv files and use the Sequential file stage in DS.

Please post the error message. Load failures could be due to many reasons and unless there is more information it's not possible to help you.

You need to engage your DBA to work out a feasbile solution. One suggestion is that you might want to consider a replicated database that is used only for reporting.
