Thanks for the suggestion. I tested the connection to the Oracle 10 tables, and I am able to access them through my Oracle client. So I'm still confused as to why I wouldn't be able to access them through the DS plug-in.

That's good to know that it should work without the new client. I do have that SID in my tnsnames.ora file. Here's the way it looks: dwtst = (DESCRIPTION = (ADDRESS_LIST = (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = pjcuxdev)(PORT = 1521)) ) (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVICE_NAME = dwtst)(SERVER = DEDICATED)) )

Meta Data Plug-in and Oracle version compatibility question

I currently have the Oracle 8 & 9 clients installed on my pc (and therefore when I go to the Import Plug-in for Meta Data in DS those two are available to be selected in the drop-down menu). I now have some Oracle 10 table definitions I need to import. Do I need have to have the Oracle 10 client...

Craig -

THanks for the response. Yes, the OCI mention was a mistake on my part - sorry about that.

I had an error in my uvodbc.config file. Once I corrected that I was able to import the definitions using ODBC.

Thanks for your help!

Importing Sybase Table Definitions

I'm currently connecting DataStage to Sybase using an ODBC connection. Should I be able to import a Sybase table definition? Whenever I attempt to import, I get the dreaded "unable to initialize plugin" message. I do have the plugin installed, but I don't have the Sybase client installed o...

Thanks for the quick response. However, I'm not sure I understand the second part. Are you saying for the ODBC itself I wouldn't need the Sybase client, but for using the Sybase stage within a server job I would need the client installed? Thanks again.

ODBC connection to Sybase

I know that this topic has been discussed before, but I haven't quite found the answer to my question. I need to created an ODBC connection for DataStage to connect to a Sybase database. From researching I know that I need to edit the dsenv, .odbc.ini, and uvodbc.config files. But what I'm unclear a...

dynamic file name

This is my first post - so go easy with me. :) I have a server job where I need part of the output file name to be dynamic. That is, the first part of the target file name will always be the same, but the second part of the target file name would be determined by a particular character value found i...
