I am not able to see Ray's full reply for this because of "premium content". However this can be solved by use of @PARTITIONNUM and @NUMPARTITIONS

Select the fatal message in Log in DS director and then from the menu click job>Add Rule to Message Handler. Follow the on screen instructions. An Alternative approach. Read all columns as "not nullable" and do the null handling in the subsequent Transformer stage.
