I have added another user to a group with the "DataStage Developer" role. They have no admin rights to the server(I do have admin rights). I am able to log in to designer but they get the same error I received yesterday..... Failed to connect to host: NJROS1BVA0301, project: Voba (User nam...

My company does things slowly......I was granted temporary admin rights to the machine this morning for 48 hours and no more troubles logging in.
If(when) the login problem happens again at that point I will attach the error message.
Thank you both!

Hi, I have installed DataStage on a Windows 2003 server and have been developing for that past couple of Months. Even thought I had our security folks create Groups to define in the Permisions Tab, I have never implemented that yet. I still have the "everyone" group set to DataStage Develo...

Sorry to bother everyone....I thought I had all the available documentation in front of me but it was only the Tutorial. Just found the server job developer's guide that would have answered my question.

Thanks Kris......that's what I was trying to do but being a newbie I have some follow up questions.

Sorry, but I am slowly catching on!

Counting duplicates

Hi, I am extracting data from the mainframe(ODBC stage) and my results give me a unique combination of PLAN_ID and CONTRACT_ID sorted on the same two fields. I need to add another field that would keep count of duplicate PLAN_ID's...... PLAN_ID CONTRACT_ID NEW_COUNTER A A 0 B A 0 B B 1 B C 2 J A 0 R...

I did check that out.....but it is deleting the table I expected but just not writing to it. When I try a view data on DSLink4 I get a "data source is empty" message even though the logs show that 1000 records were written to DSLink4.

The log has no warnings and even shows:

NZUN_PLEE_LOAD..Load_NZUN_PLEE: DSD.StageRun Active stage finishing.
1000 rows read from DSLink3
1000 rows written to DSLink4
0.343 CPU seconds used, 0.703 seconds elapsed.

Thanks guys......I ended up going with the Dynamic RDBMS stage and I coded the delete of the child table in the "Before" tab. I also have the update action as Clear Table then insert rows. All rows from both tables are now getting deleted. New Problem: When I execute, all rows for the two ...

Kenneth,
I plan on deleting the child table first.......This is the added sql I need to add. I don't have the option of selecting User Defined SQL with teh ODBC stage being the last in line.
Thanks - - John
