Ray,
Thanks for the reply. The first way which comes to our mind is passing POST_DATE along all the links. But I am intested in knowing the alternates.

Preserve the value of a particular field in transformer
Hi All, I have a parallel job.The first stage is an Oracle Enterprise stage and the records fetched are passed to a transformer and few other stages follow to carry out the other logic. For all the records fetched from the table there is a field POST_DATE which has the same value. I need to preserve...

Any alternative for Substrings function?
Hi All,
I've a requirement. The input column data is of 10 digits and the output should be of 9 digits, with the second digit removed.Substrings function works perfectly fine. Now I want to know of any other function which does the same work more efficiently.

Protect a category in DS Designer
Hi all,
I know that DataStage provides a feature to make a project "protected" in Administartor. I just wonder whether DataStage provides any feature to protect a category in the Designer sothat only the owner of the category can view it. Any thoughts would be highly appreciated.

Server Vs Parallel
Hi All,
I'm trying to create a document on Server Vs Parallel. Can u provide some scenarios where parallel would be the best option when compared to server and vice versa taking different parameters like performance into consideration.
Thanks,
Sumesh

Hi Ray, I copied the contents of configuration file for default and replaced the fastname as Sumesh. The modified content was pasted as the configuration text for the configuration by name Sumesh. That's all. The fastname specified is exactly the same as the computer name. Please correct me if I am ...

Hi, I've created the configuration file with the fastname as Sumesh. I edited the environment variable APT_CONFIG_FILE and specified the correct .apt file. When I click the Check button available in Configurations in Manager, the following text is displayed. <main_program> Sumesh - <main_program> rs...

Issue with PX installation
Hi All, I've installed DS EE 7.5.2 on my PC. When I click on 'new' on the designer's menu, the pop up window doesn't have the options like New Server Job, New Server Sequence, New server shared container..etc. It has options only relevant to parallel. I believe that option to create server jobs/seque...

Hi All, I installed DataStage Enterprise Edition 7.5.2 on my PC. Do I need any setup before designing a job. I created a job which has 2 sequential files for read/write and a transformer for simple mapping. When I try view data on the sequential file, I got an error as Error executing view data comm...
