I agree with Ken. Do a category at a time.

dsexport / dscmdexport never seem to finish..
When I run dsexport or dscmdexport my DSX file gets up to 600+MB and the export still not done after 11+ hrs. It seems like when it gets to exporting binaries things REALLY show down. Is there anyway to exclude binaries during these export functions? Or is there another problem I don't know about? t...

Re: ParsDSX.pl should work without mods in CYGWIN environmen
I unfortunately have not had a ton of time to debug the script but I agree.. at first glance I don't see anything funky going on. Just for grins I ran the script under FreeBSD 6.0 and the results were similar.. Here is an example of the perms I got for the directories it created: dr----x--x 2 root w...

Most of the SCM scripting I plan on doing will be under Linux, so it seems the Perl script would be my best bet.. However.. I'll keep your routine in my back pocket .. if anything I use it as a sanity check to the Perl script output. If you are on Windows then why not use a routine: * --------------...

First off.. sorry about the bad 'thread' etiquette. Anyway.. yup.. it worked right in ActivePerl. I'll debug the script and make sure it works in a POSIX env like Linux and Cygwin. I'm sure if everything was set right on my end.. it would work.. but the script should error out if the env is setup wr...

Ok.. I had the boys in the lab give me a 176MB DSX file to play with. This time the ParseDSX.pl script dumped a bunch of stuff to the console as it parsed the file.. here is a snippet of that: ../ParseDSX.pl -o DUMP2 -s Project.dsx *snip* Writing File: DUMP2/jobs/Fbob_Jobs/Test01.dsx... Writing File...

Newbie VC questions..
Here is my situation.. I'm a new SCM on a project that is heavily leaning on DS for the ETL side of things. I am going through some VC pains now. The issue, of course, is that the most experienced DS people on the team are not up VC technology.. and don't really care in general about the process. He...

Re: I need a DSX-Cutter
I just tried the ParseDSX.pl script under Centos4.3 (RHEL) - Perl 5.8.5 and Cygwin - Perl 5.8.7 and here is what I get as the output under both platforms: mmarch@joberh0206 ~/DSXplay $ ls -al total 72 drwxr-xr-x+ 3 mmarch Users 0 Apr 4 08:49 . drwx------+ 5 mmarch ???????? 0 Apr 4 08:21 .. -rwxrwxrw...

Is there a command line tool for xml export?
Split from This post by moderator I just started as an SCM in a new job where almost e verything is based on DataStage... and to top it off, I've never used DataStage either.. :? Here is my question, is there a command line tool that will export a DSX file to XML? I'm thinking that I might write a ...
