ok...so following on Craig's note, tell us more about "that" Job...what makes it unique? Ernie that job has source Dataset and has a copy stage goes to the lkp stage then other link from the copy goes to the transformer where we do some trnsformation goes to the XML and from that XML goes...

Hi, I am not able to connect the SQL Server through ODBC in my production environment where as i can connect the same in Development with same ID & Password................i can read the source data in development through ODBC but not in Production...i checked all the settings in .ODBC.ini file...

Can you get "any" XML to work? Yes,but the XML O/P stage fails for that particular job when i just use as o/p and read from that as well.But same job runs fine in 7.1 version when imported to 8.1 it fails. But when i use the same XML o/p stage just to write also fails with same error. Do ...

I did not get any error on that XML stage rather am geting the usual warning of cannot preserve partitioning on the sort stage.

XML error:Caught unknown exception from runLocally()

we are doing an upgrade in DS in which we have a job where source is a data set and we store that in a XML and get back from xml and that particluar stage shows up an error saying "Caught unknown exception from runLocally()".I have no clue how to approach this error.any help.

That i checked earlier with making it as nullable it was working .but why is the problem comes when i use NVL in the query to substitute, is with Datastage 8.x assuming the computed value as nullable irrespective of definition.My concern is we are doing upgrade with the DataStage as we have tons of ...

they are coming correctly but i feel i use a case statement in the select with that field, so will Datastage takes it as nullable by default even though the source has nonnullable and have a default value as Decimal(38,10) even though the source has integer which is int32.

ArndW,
Database metadata even with nullablity is identical with the Datastage. Is some thing to do with datastage versions.

The first one happens whenever we run the job but the in the second one there is no nulls in the specified field but it throws up an error.

What is your requirement? you need to load the dimension and then the facts .Is your dimensions are from multiple target table of Informix? pls give us more detail on the DWH design.
