is your col1 marked as a key column on your job? and is it also key on your database? if so, try to seperate inserts and updates into two links and use the same user defined queries but drop col4 for the update link

that should work

ok you need to post the error log in order for the people to help you. another thing is just being able to view data and being able to validate the job does not guarantee that the job will not abort.

One last thing, how do we/you know that the error is related with the oracle stage?

mdx is also the Microsoft's multidimensional ( cube) sql standard. I don't know if those files have mdx extension though.

Re: Error while running the job

Hi all, ... "Fatal error:Unable to allocate communication resources" When I reset the job and rerun it ,it runs well. ... it could be anything, you should give us more details... whats database are you using? how many connections is this job trying to open? is the server/network too busy?...

Wouldnt a job write to the same sequential file twice, if there is a delay between the two write operations ? If the file is not written to in the same active stage ? As Craig said, the update/read/write operations to a sequential files are governed by the OS. if you open a sequential file for read...

If this were a server job, just use the link collector stage to let 1 or more transformer stages write to the same seq file. ... but this will not guarantee that the second link will be an append, i.e., the records from two links will be mixed. I guess same case will occur with the funnel stage in PX
