Ray, First, Thanks for the idea. I'll give it a try, at first glance, I don't see why it wouldn't work. To reiterate the process, we are breaking a record into muliple parts, executing lookups in parallel on each link, then bringing the data back together along with the new columns gained in the loo...

Merge Stage yeilding 'holes' in the output data

We had an unusual problem with the output from a Merge stage where the records would have blank values for columns - arbitrarily. It looked as if Round Robin partitioning had been selected. We have the Partitioning set to Auto for all of the input links when the behavior is observed. To give some pe...

Another option that I find helpful, and gives more information, is from the job log in Director select Print from the Project menu. Then in the Print dialogue, select 'Full Details' and 'Print to File'.

This will sometimes give you a little more info than GUI based log.

Ray, thanks for the information. I see it is now posted on the main page. Could you direct me to the person who is going to organize it? I noticed that it is scheduled for the week of July 4th, possibly the busiest vacation week of the Summer given most everyone in the US is granted one holiday out ...

Transistion Lab

Does anyone know if another PX transistion lab is in the works? I missed out on the first one and could REALLY use it.

Hardware sizing of Dev, Test and Production Environments

I am relatively new to the PX dev world, and have taken on the task of implementing Enterprise and updating the job designs from server to PX. I have poured over the px and adv px dev guide and know enough to be dangerous. We are running into issues where our ETL job designs are limited by the resou...

Thanks Ray, for the post. The fields will accept null values. Apparently the issue occurs when passing null values into the routine. Below is a posting from IBM support: Unfortunately your C routine won't work with PX. There is an e.case explaining that, see below: ECASE Date Opened Status State Pro...

Custom Function in PX

I wrote a simple function in C that returns a char* value after evlautating 4 char* arguments for Null. The idea was to consolidate and clean up the architecture. However, when I pass my new routine a NULL value for one of the 4 arguments, it drops the record and throws a warning message. using name...

Thanks for the responses. I am running my dev and test box on a VM using RedHat as the OS. In this configuration, I am limited to 1 processor per VM. While I have been told that a Parallel job will run on a single processor, it may use up the entire resource. Is it possible to utilize a processor fr...

Installing Enterprise Edition on an existing 7.5.1a Server

We are about to 'upgrade' to Enterprise Edition from 7.5.1a and I have a few questions. I have contacted IBM DataStage support but they are researching and getting back to me. During my initial contact a few weeks ago with IBM support, I was told that the install of Enterprise was as simple as rerun...

Updates?

Hi Jim,

I have recently updgraded to 7.5.1a Server and I am considering an install of the Enterprise Edition. Like you, I am running on Linux 3.0. Were you able to resolve your issues? Any suggestions, warnings or general advice related to your experience would be greatly appreciated.
