Another thing to check is that if you are using named pipes in your job (so you are created named pipes using the command mkfifo) make sure that the "Stage uses named pipes" check box is ticked on the Sequential File stage in the datastage job.

Another action is to login as the user that runs the datastage processes (eg dsadm) and source the dsenv file, double check that all the environment settings are correct and that you can run all the standard sybase tools.

Hi, Post your $ODBCINI file for the IQ section your having problems with... we use DS5.2r2 on Solaris 8 without any problems (you can also use a sybase open client stage if you want, and therefore no $ODBC settings). Here is one of my ODBC entries for an IQ server. [DW_IQ_A_ODBC] Driver=/data/sybase...

Solaris DS Installation to NT DB2 UDB Instance

Hiya, I hope that this does not sound like a simple question, but im banging my head against a wall. We currently have a DataStage 5.2 installation running on Solaris 2.8. From this installation we connect to a Sybase ASE on Solaris 2.8, Sybase IQ on Solaris 2.8 and a DB2 V5r1 on a AS/400. I've mana...

Thanks Vincent, I had already thought of splitting the output so that the data to another file and then merging the files. The problem is that the next stage or processing needs the data in the original order otherwise we introduce a HEAP of extra processing (which we were able to remove this proces...

Nick, I am running a very similar setup, Solaris 2.8, DS5.1r1 on both a E4000 and a E10000 and I experience very similar problems with jobs aborting. I'm not 100% sure if its the same problem but we find jobs sometimes (and randomly) start and then abort with no messages in the error log. We also ex...

I've had similar experiences, and here is what I've done. First check the &PH& dir to see if any critical errors occurred. If so then give the HelpDesk a call and let the know. Second, place a file stage just before the last database insert. This will cause all the final inserts to be placed...

Have you looked at the versioning tool? It does not have a check-in/checkout functionality but and it does not stop developers from changing jobs in the development environment. But the VERSION project that is created contains all initialised & promoted jobs and therefore can be used to ensure j...

Angela,
Not too sure if this is possible but can you setup the JOB1 Jobhandle as a common variable, and therefore have access to that handle from JOB2. Then you could issue a job stop as normal.

Moving the VERSION Project

Hiya,
Is there any special steps that need to be taken to move the VERSION control project. I've tried a straight export/import but the new VERSION project seems to be missing some sort of control file as the jobs do not appear in the Version Control App.

Thanks

Correct Terminal Setting for uv Backend

Hiya, Whats the correct terminal settings so that the HELP pages work when logged into the uv backend. I currently use a X-Term to connect to our Solaris box, but the Main Help window is always screwed. My current uv TERM settings are >TERM Terminal Printer Page width: 80 132 Page depth: 65 66 Page ...

Nigel, hello again :-) We experience exactly the same problem on DS 5.1/Solaris. Tech support have told us that there are problems with Signal handling in Solaris 2.8. Not too sure on this, but it does cause us the occasional problem with jobs hanging. Tech support suggested turning Notify Off as it...

Thanks Nigel, I did not do it exactly the way you suggested (I used a shell script, as I am much more familiar with shell scripting than DS Basic).. but the result was the same, the CLEAR.FILE DATA [Blah} worked a treat.

Thanks

Removing all log files

Is there a way to delete all logfiles in a project. I do not mean after a given date, or after a certain number of runs. Its our development environment so we do not wish to delete log files on a regular basis, just every now and again.

We are on 5.1 on Solaris 2.8

Thanks
